PTH250![]()
General Pathology Course
for graduate students
In order to do basic science research related to disease, it is helpful to have an understanding of disease processes themselves. The PTH250 graduate student course is designed to acquaint students with basic mechanisms of disease. Graduate students attend class lectures along with medical students, as faculty present basic science and case studies of etiologies and pathogenesis of basic disease processes. Graduate students have lab and discussion sections, as well as tests, separate from the medical students to address the separate needs and backgrounds of future basic science researchers. At the end of this course, students should be familiar with the etiologies and histologic appearances of basic pathologic processes, including reaction to injury, necrosis, apoptosis, inflammation, neoplasia, immunologic and infectious diseases, and developmental and genetic defects.
